Gregory's Place was co-founded by his sons Rasheed and Taufee Reynolds. Gregory Reynolds was a decorated Marine soldier who served in the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart for being wounded during service. Years later Gregory had a stroke, and this caused Rasheed and Taufee to struggle to get Gregory into a quality home that could meet all his needs, they discovered major gaps in services to disabled veterans who lacked proper funds and family support and were left to fend for themselves.
Close to one-fifth of people in the Washington, D.C. area live in poverty. Few people are hit harder by economic disparity than disabled veterans. Sadly, these heroes who nobly served our country are at the greatest risk of slipping through the cracks when they don't have enough money or support to receive proper care.
Gregory's Place exists to bridge gaps for disabled veterans and other forgotten people who need a helping hand. Based in Frederick, Maryland, our residential group homes in the greater District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area were created to address the unfair treatment of disabled veterans and civilians by empowering them to live high-quality, independent lives with exactly the care they need to thrive.
For the folks who have run out of options and don't have a safety net, Gregory's Place, with your help, is there to catch them and lift them up. Each of our tenants will have a safe, private space to live comfortably on their own. We will also provide them with unlimited access to educational, wellness, and career development resources to help them find healing and hope for the future.
We want our tenants to know that their journey is not over by providing them with the support they need to thrive. Our ultimate goal is to engage the disengaged by building a hub that guides people experiencing disabilities to live successful, stable, independent lives.
